Canadian Retail Sales - July 24, 2012
Canadian retail sales rose 0.3 per cent in May, with gains reported in 6 of 11 subsectors. Adjusted for inflation, retail sales were up 0.7 per cent. The retail sector in BC continues to post solid growth in 2012, provincial retail sales increased 0.2 per cent in May while year-over-year sales growth was 4.1 per cent.
Today's release further solidifies our second quarter Canadian real GDP growth tracking estimate of 1.5 to 2 per cent.
